After securing Guillermo del Toro and his ‘parisitic vampire’ series THE STRAIN, Fox Studio’s FX have announced they are also working with legendary duo the Coen Brothers. The pair have come aboard for a television adaptation of FARGO, ‘loosely based’ on the 1996 movie.
FARGO starred Frances McDormand as heavily pregnant police officer Marge Gunderson, hot on the trail of a kidnapping plot gone wrong. Co-starring William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi, the film picked up Oscars for Best Original Screenplay and Lead Actress.
FARGO was almost seen on the small screen back in 1997 when it was adaptated without the Coen’s involvement. The show starred Edie Falco and was directed by Kathy Bates but never made it past the pilot episode. The opening scene is no longer available on YouTube so believe me when I say it was seven shades of terrible.
No plot information is known on the proposed series. Will Marge return or will this solely be another tale set in the town of Fargo?
