Nazi-zombie infested cult horror DEAD SNOW, saw its director Tommy Wirkola cherry-picked to helm (and write) this adventurous take on the grown-up (and now kick-ass) Grimm fairytale favourites HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS. While the film was expected earlier this summer, the crowded calendar that included hits AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, PROMETHEUS and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, saw the studio decide to move their movie to early 2013. Perhaps also assessing the growing popularity of star Jeremy Renner, taking his first major lead as Bourne replacement Aaron Cross in side-quel THE BOURNE LEGACY.
Let us know what you make of this first trailer for Wirkola’s first English-language, and ultimately Hollywood big-budget blockbuster. The stunning Gemma Arterton co-stars as Renner’s fellow vengeful-seeking sibling. HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS invades UK cinemas 15th March 2013.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
