Lincoln Vs Bond: Spielberg’s Drama Secures November Release

Steven Spielberg’s forthcoming historical drama has secured a November release date alongside new James Bond flick SKYFALL.

LINCOLN, in case it wasn’t obvious already, is a historical biopic which tells the tale of the USA’s sixteenth Prez guiding the North to victory in the civil war. It’s due for an ‘exclusive’ release on 9th November in certain areas of the US, with general release nationwide on the 16th.

This means the film will be released alongside SKYFALL in the US, which shares the 9th November release date Stateside. It’ll be interesting to see box office takings for the two very different genre films – due to one’s roots in the UK and the other’s US-centric content – though with SKYFALL now well overdue, anticipation for that film may just keep it on top, regardless of any overly patriotic cinema-goers.

And with barely an official image in sight, let alone a trailer, the marketing team for LINCOLN will need to up their game for a release that’s now less than four months away.

LINCOLN stars Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, with a supporting cast that includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones and Jackie Earle Haley. It’s due for release in UK cinemas in January 2013.
