Brosnan Joins Wilson For ‘The Coup’

We reported late week that Owen Wilson had signed on to headline QUARANTINE and DEVIL director John Erick Dowdle’s intense new action-thriller THE COUP. The film has been written by Dowdle, along with brother and regular collaborator Drew. Wilson will star as a husband and father, who decides to move with his family to Southeast Asia, only to find themselves soon fighting for their lives, as violent rebels attack the city they have made their home.

Now THN can confirm that former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan will co-star alongide Wilson, as a shady government operative. Brosnan’s last big-screen effort was a supporting role in Sarah Jessica Parker’s dire comedy, I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT. He also appeared as the lead in Mick Garris’ mini-series adaptation of Stephen King’s BAG OF BONES, which was screened in the US late last year (but is still waiting to be picked up for UK screens).

THE COUP is set to roll before cameras in October for a release late next year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
