J.J. Abrams New Show ‘Alcatraz’ Heading To The UK

J.J. Abrams new show ALCATRAZ kicks off on UK TV tonight, March 13th, at 9pm on Watch and it’s all about…an island! ALCATRAZ plays on the mystery of the infamous San Francisco prison by setting us up in 1963 when the notorious penitentiary closed and some of the nation’s worst murderers, rapists and thieves vanished. As the tagline goes “Now they’re back.  And about to be let loose on modern age America…”

It’s an intriguing premise and stars Sarah Jones as lead detective Rebecca Madsen, Sam Neill as Emerson Hauser, a FBI agent and former police officer who arrived on the dock at Alcatraz to find the prisoners gone in 1963 and the return of British actress Parminder Nagra (ER, BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM) playing Dr. Lucille “Lucy” Banerjee. The big name back on the small screen is LOST’s Jorge Garcia, he plays Dr. Diego “Doc” Soto, a comic book collector and Alcatraz expert. Whether it’ll live up to the glory of LOST is yet-to-be seen but there’s definitely room for expansion as the world will surely spread beyond the island itself, unlike LOST where they kept having to go back for strategic season purposes…
