The cult 60’s spy series THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. has been in development for the big-screen for while now but with Steven Soderbergh slated to direct the film things have been gathering pace. George Clooney recently created a problem for Soderbergh when he had to leave the project. Surprisingly Bradley Cooper also decided against joining the cast on what will hopefully for the studio and fans of the show, (box-office receipts pending) be the beginning of a new franchise.
New rumours are now suggesting Soderbergh latest leading man, Channing Tatum is in line to lead the cast after working with the director on his latest movie MAGIC MIKE. If Tatum does take a role he will certainly need a partner with the original show being a double act for Robert Vaughn’s Napoleon Solo and David McCallum’s Illya Kuryakin. WARRIOR’s Joel Edgerton is another star being suggested as a foil for the lead.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
