Disney studios are going mad for moving back release dates at the moment. Already having shifted Johnny Depp vehicle THE LONE RANGER back to 31st May 2013 (whatever date, it still sounds like a stinker, Captain), the House of Mouse has also pushed the anticipated THOR sequel to from 26th July to 15th November 2013. What’s most interesting is that this moves the Norse God’s second solo film out of summer blockbuster territory – what we may as well all ‘superhero season’ these days – and into the less-lucrative winter period. This decision may be a tactical move to reduce the possibility of Marvel Studio’s character clashing with their own Lone Ranger. Disney will also release PHINEAS AND FERB on 26th July.
THOR 2 will be directed by Patty Jenkins and will star Chris Hemsworth.
