Children’s favourite Thomas the Tank Engine is set to belatedly star on the silver screen. According to Deadline, the cheeky character will be brought to life by 9 writer-director Shane Acker and HIT Entertainment. Thomas originates from ‘The Railway Series’ books by Rev. W. Awdry, and features alongside a number of other tank engines and trains, including Edward, Gordon, Henry, and Edward.
Thomas is perhaps best known for the 80’s TV series THOMAS AND FRIENDS, originally narrated by Ringo Starr. FX fans will be pleased to know that WETA will take charge of the model/effects work, which will combine with live action. Casting on the Fat Controller remains a mystery.
