The King’s Speech and Toy Story 3 out of WGA Awards!

Two of the highest profile films of the year, THE KING’S SPEECH and TOY STORY 3, will not be in the running for this year’s Writer’s Guild of America awards as they are ineligible! The WGA gongs are one of the most respected awards for screenplay writers, and the winners tend to go on to be nominated in the Academy Awards category for Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay and nine times out of ten, win the award!

The problem with the WGA awards is that they are only dished out to writers that are members of the WGA. Other absentees from this year’s awards will be SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, WINTER’S BONE, BLUE VALENTINE, ANOTHER YEAR, THE GHOST WRITER, and NEVER LET ME GO.

The Writer’s Guild of America awards are dished out on February 5th, 2011.
