The LONE RANGER had been originally announced back in 2007 with Jerry Bruckheimer doing the usual producer’s job on the film and possibly Gore Verbinski directing.
Disney has now announced that the project with Verbinski is moving ahead. Also announced is that Johnny Depp with play the Lone Ranger’s side kick and best friend Tonto.
Not much outside of the above information has been released except Justin Haythe (REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, THE CLEARING) has written the script. It is also unknown how close to the original origin the film will stick to which saw a group of rangers ambushed leaving one alive, brought back to health by the Native Americans.
Whatever happens I’m sure with a large part of the creative influence, Johnny Depp, Gore Verbinski, Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney having worked on the mega blockbusters of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN they will produce something very similar and bring in a lot of bucks.
Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
