According to Deadline, CBS Films is currently truing to bag the rights to Daniel Monzon‘s Spanish language film. CELDA 211. And apparently Paul Haggis has got his eye on directing it under Hwy 61 productions.
Fresh from directing THE NEXT THREE DAYS, he obviously must fancy a bit more of the cell block genre, as this action thriller is about a prison guard who wants to make a good impression. Well, don’t we all? Anyway, he decides to get on the right side of his new bosses to come in a day early to check out his new work area. Bad idea, as it just so happens that a brutal prison riot is going to take place. He is knocked out during the fight and wakes up in a cell, as a prisoner himself. Powerful stuff, eh?
