J.J. Abrams 2009 STAR TREK reboot was a huge hit amongst the ‘Trekkie’ masses, impressing enough with the film gaining a healthy box-office haul to green-light a sequel. The follow-up, will see the return of the whole crew (and cast) of the U.S.S. Enterprise as they battle Benedict Cumberbatch’s still-to-be-confirmed mysterious villain. With shooting now concluded, Zachary Quinto who plays Spock, has given a few hints at just what fans of Gene Roddenberry’s legendary sci-fi creation can expect, which has once again Abrams at the helm!
It was bigger. It was bolder, I think, than the first one, and that was pretty big and bold from my stand point. I’m really excited to see what they do with it. I feel like, you know, my work is done on the movie right now and until we have to go and promote it, then my work remains done and I let J.J. and his incredible team of people get in there and do the work that they need to do now. I feel very fulfilled, but I don’t feel particularly attached to what the outcome of that project will be because I have faith in the people that I was collaborating with to make it as good as it can be.
STAR TREK 2 (which is still awaiting an official title) will beam into cinemas 17th May 2013 and co-stars Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Alice Eve, Peter Weller and Anton Yelchin.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
