Jamie Foxx is writing a film version of the classic 1980s TV show Laverne and Shirley. It looks like his Valentine’s Day director is stepping behind the camera for the film, and is bringing along some of Foxx’s co-stars from that movie to play the lead roles.
“Jamie and I are trying to do it,” Garry told TV Guide. “He’s writing it. It’s a whole different modern day take on how they came up on the streets during difficult times. Laverne would be this very tough girl with a big ‘L’ tattooed on her arm. Jennifer Garner would play Laverne and Jessica Biel would play Shirley.”
The original Laverne and Shirley, Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams, are also said to have roles in the film, but Marshall said that Foxx had asked him not to reveal the parts they would play.
