Charlie Sheen loses clothing sponsor

Charlie Sheen has been dropped by one of his advertising campaigns.

US clothing company Hanesbrand decided to end their contract with the ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor following his arrest on suspicion of assaulting his wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day (25.12.10).

The company’s spokesman Matt Hall said: “It’s a pretty standard, straightforward call when somebody who’s in your commercials is arrested on suspicion of something of this magnitude. And we would suspend the ads both for the company and, really, for Mr. Sheen and his family as well. Given the publicity, it makes sense to not air those ads during that time.”

Although the television commercials were stopped from December 28, some print adverts will continue to appear until the spring because of agreements with certain publications.

Hall added: “Unfortunately, the production schedule of those publications does not allow us to pull those ads.”

Sheen, 44, was arrested on Christmas Day following an argument with Brooke, in which she claims he threatened her with a knife.

He was later released on bail and is set to appear in court again next month.

The couple – who married in May 2008 – have nine-month-old twin sons, Bob and Max, together.
