Rob Marshall is “delighted” that Johnny Depp wants him to work on the fourth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie.
The ‘Nine’ filmmaker, who is famous for directing musicals, including Academy Award-winning ‘Chicago’ said he was asked by Jerry Bruckheimer if he was interested in working on a new installment of the pirate film because the actor, who plays swashbuckling anti-hero Captain Jack Sparrow, is a fan of his work.

He said: “I was so surprised they called me. It was Johnny Depp and Jerry Bruckheimer. Jerry called me, but Johnny was interested in working with me.
“It’s a wonderful thing when something like that happens.”
However, he said he is not sure if the film, which has been titled ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ is definitely going ahead yet because of Johnny’s other movie commitments.
The director told ComingSoon.net: “We’re still trying to figure out if it’s going to all happen. If it happens – I think Johnny’s doing a move with Angelina Jolie in the spring, so if that happens, we’ll start in the summer.”
Discussing the direction of the film, he added: “I would need a script first. It all comes from the script and the story.”
