The low-budget horror film Paranormal Activity has topped the UK box-office, seeing off competition from the likes of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and the festive flick A Christmas Carol. The $15,000 film made £1.83m last weekend, which adds to it’s $100 million haul globally.
A Christmas Carol slid back up the charts to the number two position, while New Moon fell to three in its third weekend out there. The animated fare Planet 51 hit at number four.
The Gerard Butler film Law Abiding Citizen, about a man who avenges the murder of his wife and daughter, stayed at number five this week, while other new entries included The Box at number eight and horror sequel The Descent: Part Two at nine.
