We’ve just received some details for the home release of Paul Dano’s superb Wildlife, which comes to digital download on 11th March 2019, and then on Blu-ray and DVD on 18th March 2019, courtesy of ICON FILM DISTRIBUTION. This film really is superb and should be seen.
Paul Dano (Love & Mercy; There Will Be Blood) makes his outstanding directorial debut with Wildlife, a gripping 1960s drama surrounding a struggling family’s dedication to provide for one another, and the tenacity of the human spirit.
Adapted from the Richard Ford novel of the same name, the film also boasts an all-star cast including Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Love & Other Drugs), Carey Mulligan (Never Let Me Go, Inside Llewyn Davis), Ed Oxenbould (The Visit, Paper Planes) and Bill Camp (The Night Of, Midnight Special).
Set in a small town in 1960’s Montana, fourteen-year-old Joe (Oxenbould) is the only child of Jeanette (Mulligan) and Jerry (Gyllenhaal). Nearby, close to the Canadian border, an uncontrollable forest fire wreaks havoc on everything in its wake. When Jerry loses his job, he decides to enrol as a firefighter to help provide for his family, and restore a sense of purpose to his life. Forced into the adult role in the house, Joe must come to terms with his own adolescence, whilst battling Jeanette’s unravelling from the model mother to a desperate figure of her former-self.
The only special features listed at present are cast and crew interviews with Carey Mulligan, Paul Dano, and Zoe Kazan. More as it comes in.
