Annette Bening has reportedly joined the cast of Marvel’s Captain Marvel, the 1990’s set stand-alone which is now in production. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter who say that Bening will play a scientist in the movie, which is now shooting in Los Angeles.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing for the studio.
Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn ,Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace are amongst the cast of the film, which centers on an Air Force pilot whose DNA fuses with that of an alien, sending her headlong into an intergalactic adventure.
Justin Kroll from Variety says that Bening’s role could be that of Carol Danvers’ (Brie Larson) mother.

Captain Marvel is slated for a March 8, 2019 release.
