Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened to a huge $450 million in its first few days around the world, $220 million of it on domestic soil making it the second-biggest opener of all time behind The Force Awakens.

The film opens in the UK to £27.5M having screened in over 700 sites – the widest cinema release of all time and the biggest opening of the year. Saturday’s figures alone came in at £7.6M meaning Disney has the top three in the all-time Saturday box office figures alongside Star Wars: The Force Awakens and this year’s Beauty and the Beast.
