British actor Paul Bettany has joined the cast of the Star Wars Han Solo movie. The news was reported via director Ron Howard’s Twitter late Friday with the message:
“The Outer Rim just got a little bit wilder… It’s my third opportunity to work with Paul. He’s a blast & so talented.”
The two have worked together before, on the movies A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code. Now the actor has assumed an unnamed role in the 2018-release Star Wars spin-off about the early years of Han Solo.
The film sees Alden Ehrenreich star as Han, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. Woody Harrelson is also amongst the cast, while Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are also playing undisclosed roles.
The still as-yet-untitled Han Solo movie will arrive in cinemas in May 2018.
