A week or so ago, we posted news that Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn was developing a new Starsky and Hutch TV series. Well, not it looks like it has found a home over at Amazon where is officially a go-project – as long as the script is decent – which, we’re sure it will be.
The Live Feed reports the news that the streamer will co-develop the news series with Sony Pictures Television with Gunn potentially directing the pilot episode. The trade says that Amazon has ‘handed out a script-to-series commitment to the drama from Gunn, his brother Brian Gunn and cousin Mark Gunn (meaning if the script comes in well, Amazon would order the drama straight to series)’.
“Chekhov said if you have a gun in the room, it’s going to go off. We can’t wait to see what three Gunns do with Starsky and Hutch,” Amazon head of comedy, drama and VR Joe Lewis said in a statement to THR.
The new show will be based on the 1970s original series, which ran from April 1975 to May 1979 on the ABC network.
