Veteran actor Edward James Olmos will lead the cast of the Sons Of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC for the FX TV network, so reports The Live Feed.
Olmos, who appeared in the likes of Battlestar Galactica and Dexter, will play Felipe Reyes in the show, which is created by SOA writer Kurt Sutter.
Mayans MC follows the younger EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border who struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel as well as his need for respect from the women he loves. Olmos’ character is the family’s formerly strong patriarch who, after years of being crushed by bullets and labor, struggles to keep his past buried and lead his own sons down a lawful and righteous path.
The new show, which kicks off production soon, is set after the events of Sons Of Anarchy and the exploits of Jax Teller. Mayans MC will also be set away from northern California where SOA was based.
