The Star Trek Beyond promotional machine has moved on from the UK to Hollywood and a huge press conference took place for LA journalists just yesterday where series producer and the first two films’ director J.J. Abrams revealed potential plans for a fourth movie in the series.
Here’s what he had to say:
“Yes, and there’s something that hopefully we’re figurative minutes away from talking about. But the answer is 100 percent yes, and it’s incredibly exciting”.
Star Trek Beyond doesn’t actually hit cinemas until next Friday, and the press are officially embargoed on their reviews apparently until later this evening (apparently pulled forward 6 days as the original embargo was due to be up next Wednesday), but Paramount have allowed us to shared our initial thoughts on the film. The great news is that the buzz is generally positive, which bodes well for another sequel. Here are a few tweets, including one from ourselves with initial thoughts on Star Trek Beyond.
Keep checking the site (we’re guessing 8pm BST) for our full review.
Now officially allowed to tell you that we loved #StarTreyBeyond – a worth addition to the current trilogy and the brand as a whole. Go see!

#StarTrekBeyond is epic & balanced. Kinetic & thoughtful. It connects Trek in ways I could only dream. An extremely worthy 50-year mic drop!

STAR TREK BEYOND does something magical: has big, bold action but puts these characters in, basically, a TOS episode. For me it was a dream.

No idea what the hardcore will think, but I reeeeeally enjoyed STAR TREK BEYOND. This should have been the sequel to ’09.
