The highly anticipate movie in the xXx series, xXx3, has finally bagged itself a director in D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye), but it looks like Vin Diesel‘s other hot franchise, The Fast and the Furious, will have its eighth movie go before the cameras before shooting gets underway on another Xander Cage adventure.
Diesel spoke to io9, who revealed the hiring of a new director.
“I’m excited as hell about xXx. D J Caruso is directing it, which is exciting. The big question now is which will race to production first now that F Gary Gray is on [Fast & Furious 8]? Will xXx race to production first or will Fast race to production first?”
Caruso also directed Disturbia with Shia Labeouf, as well as the adaptation of I Am Number Four.
We’re guessing Fast 8, Furious 8, or whatever they decide to call it will make it to the start line as it already has a release date set for April 14th, 2017, however, we did previously report that xXx3 was to go before the cameras in December, so who knows what’s going on?
Diesel will return to the role of Xander Cage in the movie, which revolves around the character, who is an extreme sports star turned government operative.
More news as we get it.
