THN’s Christmas Gift Guide – LEGO’s ‘The Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies’ Sets

Let many of us, we’re sure you’re in the full swing of all things Christmas…wait, you’re not and you’re still struggling for those extra ideas? Well, we’ve been scouring the web and High Street for the finest film present ideas that’ll either be something a little different or just right for that film fan you know.  So you’ve come to the perfect place as THN are offering up a tantalising array of inspirational gifts ideas!

Recent times have seen a wonderful mix of LEGO products that have included that GHOSTBUSTERS Ecto-1 car, the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY range – that flew off the shelves – the LEGO Awards with Warwick Davies and now these truly remarkable THE HOBBIT: BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES sets that we just have to recommend, and we’re hear to tell you why and show you some examples!

Now I’ve been a LEGO fan all my life and what they do that makes them special, is they still manage to excite – even all these years later. First up, is The Lonely Mountain that puts together the sheer astonishing nature of Smaug in full fury but also a huge set that not only covers a multitude of events but it mixes it up with a lot of things to interact with. If you can’t get full joy and commitment to this piece of brilliant work, well, you just will….trust me. Take a little look first at Smaug and more below:

There’s also The Battle of the Five Armies set that throws us into the epic battle at the ruins of Dale as the Elves, Dwarves and Men unite to take on the fearsome Orc army. You can built it to keep a look out for advancing Orcs from a great little tower. There’s more interaction as those pesky Orcs shoot giant arrows from the crossbow of their massive mobile battle machine. Then, oh yes, there’s more…you can activate the explode functions to bring the bridge crashing down and make one side of the tower collapse. You’ve also got another bigger figure as Gwaihir, the leader of the Giant Eagles, can swoop in:

You’ll also never forget the Attack on Lake-town and now you can reenact it this their next set. Here, you’ll be able to grab Bain, son of Bard, and head him over to the bell tower to hand over the Black Arrow to his heroic father. If those Orcs attempts to enter though, the booby-trapped door will make fireballs fall on their heads, and then….*breathes*…Hoist goods up with the crane and activate the ladder explode function to send an Orc flying off the side wall. You’ve even got the awesome Tauriel and her Elven warrior skills but be aware….that boat doesn’t float in real water but, you know, I’m sure you could make something.

Finally, we got a chance to check out the Witch-king Battle which features the vicious crowned foe with the glow-in-the-dark head. Take your spot at Dol Guldur to help your heroes to battle using Elrond and Galadriel and to overcome his evil powers. Another thing to do would be to evade the fireballs shot from the catapult and you can also connect all the skeleton bones to create an extra figure! Check them all out below:
