While the original trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are all but confirmed for J.J. Abrams’ STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, we’ve heard very little about other characters coming back for the sequel – but now it seems likely that Peter Mayhew will return to the role of everyone’s favourite walking carpet, Chewbacca.
This could probably have always been assumed – after all, what’s Han without Chewie – but it was not known whether Mayhew would return for sure. Now, a cryptic tweet has given a hint to fans that Chewbacca will be on the silver screen again next year:
We regret to announce that Peter Mayhew is canceling his appearance at Comicpalooza this year due to filming.

Read into this what you will, but it’s surely no coincidence that Texas-based Comicpalooza takes place right when filming for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is due to kick off this May…
STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is due for release in cinemas worldwide on 18th December, 2015.
