Keanu Reeves ‘Passengers’ Gets New Backing?

Keanu

We at THN have a soft spot for the late Ninetie’s icon that is Keanu Reeves, and have the feature to prove it, so we’ve been following the devleopment of his latest venture PASSENGERS closely.

The plot of the film which is being pitched as a Sci-fi Drama takes place in the future. Set aboard a spaceship, Jon Spaihts script centres on a male passenger who is pulled out of cryo-sleep 100 years early. Rather than face his situation alone he decides to ‘wake-up’ one of the females onboard. Reeves who is also producing the film will be playing the male however there seems to be a fair bit of musical chairs happening with regard to his female counterpart. Reese Witherspoon was first attached to the project but had to leave as the project clashed with something else, she was then swiftly replaced by Rachel McAdams.

McAdams left last week with The Weinstein Co. not too far behind, leaving the project without a production company and leading lady. This obviously threw the project, which will be the first feature for Game Of Thrones director Brian Kirk,  into turmoil, especially as it was slated to start filming in just a few weeks time. Today though sees the news that Focus Features are in talks to help bring the film to life.

Once they sign on the dotted line, they just have to secure a leading lady that isn’t as flightly as the last two. This writer will more than happily nominate herself should Reeves and co not find anybody better suited.
