The shocking and sad death of likeable actor Paul Walker late last year was always going to put a spotlight on his films still to be released. While he gave a great sympathetic performance in indie drama HOURS (released in the US last December), his final completed film was always going to catch the eye a little more as a big-budget remake of Pierre Morel’s terrific 2004 French actioner DISTRICT 13 (aka BANLIEUE 13).
The film has been retitled BRICK MANSIONS, with the original free running superstar David Belle taking the same role as an ex-con forced to team with Walker’s undercover cop (previously played by Cyril Raffaelli) in an effort to take down a ruthless crime lord with access to a neutron bomb.
We’ve the first images and poster from the film directed by Luc Besson’s frequent collaborator/protege Camille Dalamarre and written by Besson, Bibi Naceri and Robert Mark Kamen. It also has a confirmed US release date set for 25th April. Joining Walker and Belle in the cast are musician-turned-actor/filmmaker RZA, Catalina Denis, Robert Maillet, Carlo Rota and Gouchy Boy.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
