Another larger than life figure has joined the cast of director Rupert Wyatt’s forthcoming remake of mob-centric thriller THE GAMBLER. Coen Brothers regular and comedic acting icon John Goodman has been added to the cast of the new film based upon the 1974 classic that saw James Caan as an English professor with a gambling addiction. One that threatens not only his livelihood as a respected member of a top New York University but his also his life, when finding he owes cash to the mob that he can’t pay back.
Mark Wahlberg will lead the tense thriller in the role previously played by Caan, while the remainder of the main cast is rounded out by Brie Larson, Leland Orser and Jessica Lange in the Paramount Pictures production.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
