Not content with the glories of LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and now the THE HOBBIT, Hollywood are developing the origin story and life of the man behind the tales J.R.R. Tolkien.

TOLKIEN (title to be confirmed) is set to explore the life the great author, with a further delve into his younger years at Pembroke College and his time as a soldier in World War I. The latter, of course, has always been the talk of the biggest influence and how he created these stories to take him away from the raw, horrific realities of war and how the people around him were everything.

It’s early days but David Gleeson, the Irish-born screening writer and a man well-known for his extensive knowledge on Middle-Earth, is the man working on the script with it expected to be produced by Chermin Entertainment and Fox Searchlight. There’s been no official biopic so far and with the millions upon billions taken for his books and Peter Jackson’s films, there’s undoubtedly an audience just waiting to explore his life further, we’d hope they do this properly though and with the amount of love involved in LOTR and THE HOBBIT movies, we’re hopeful that they would be.

We’ll keep you updated on any developments as and when they happen, if you’re also looking for the latest on THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG just head over here.
