Check out these brand spanking new images from SIX BY SONDHEIM, a new documentary honouring the amazing career of musical composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim.

In the documentary, which is directed by another Broadway legend and long time collaborator with Sondheim James Lapine,  we will see GLEE’s Darren Criss, Audra McDonald, SMASH’s Jeremy Jordan, UGLY BETTY’s America Ferrera and even Pulp’s very own Jarvis Cocker take on some of Sondheim’s greatest songs, ranging from WEST SIDE STORY to COMPANY. We will also see archival performances from HOMELAND’s Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, Dean Jones, Yvonne de Carlo and Larry Kert.

The synopsis is as follows:

“Everybody has problems. Nobody goes through life unscathed, and I think if you write about those things, you’re going to touch people,” says Stephen Sondheim in “Six by Sondheim,” an intimate and candid look at the life and art of the legendary composer-lyricist. Since his Broadway debut at age 27 as the lyricist for “West Side Story,” Sondheim has redefined musical theatre over the course of a six-decade career through such groundbreaking works as “Company,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Sunday in the Park with George.”

SIX BY SONDHEIM will air on HBO December 9th, as part of their documentary season.
