Seth MacFarlane Serves Up New Animated Comedy For Fox

Seth MacFarlane continues his ‘animation domination’ of the television schedules it seems, as Fox announces a new series commission from the FAMILY GUY and AMERICAN DAD creator.

Entitled BORDERTOWN, the animated comedy from MacFarlane and FAMILY GUY scribe Mark Hentemann will make it’s debut on Fox in autumn 2014, and tell the stories of the Buckwald and Gonzalez families, both living in a fictional southwestern town on the US/Mexico border. Bud Buckwald is a border patrol agent “threatened by cultural change”, while Ernesto Gonzalez is an unspecifically employed “industrious Mexican immigrant”. No confirmation yet as to whether there’ll be a talking animal character, though we’re placing our bets on a anthropomorphic Mexican Tree Frog making an appearance!

It sounds like there’ll be a nice little bit of satirical humour, but does it have enough in terms of story potential to last several seasons? We’re not sold as of yet.

BORDERTOWN joins the ranks of MacFarlane’s other creations for Fox – FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD and THE CLEVELAND SHOW – and looks set to premiere next fall. Are you excited about another MacFarlene comedy? Let us know.

From an early age, Matt Dennis dreamt of one day becoming a Power Ranger. Having achieved that dream back in the noughties, he’s now turned his hand to journalism and broadcasting. Matt can often be found in front of a TV screen, watching his current favourite shows such as DOCTOR WHO, GAME OF THRONES, SHERLOCK, DAREDEVIL, and THE WALKING DEAD, though he’s partial to a bit of vintage TV from yesteryear. Matt also co-presents the Geek Cubed podcast, which you can download from iTunes. It’s quite nice.
