There weren’t many good things to come out of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s experimental, exploitation misfire GRINDHOUSE (split in certain territories as the duo PLANET TERROR and DEATH PROOF). My own personal (and admittedly pervy favourite) was seeing a scantily-clad Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the latter. Then there was Danny Trejo’s ex-Federale Machete Cortez, which was essentially his cult recurring knife-throwing character featured in Rodriguez’s EL MARIACHI and DESPERADO.
The trailer was such a fan favourite, Rodriguez (alongside Ethan Manquis) gave Trejo’s antihero his own, star-studded action-advenutre and now he’s back in action-sequel MACHETE KILLS. This time the lady-loving Mexican mercenary is called on by the President of the United States (played by Charlie Sheen) to foil the devious plot of Mel Gibson’s billionaire arms dealer, who has plans to spread war across the globe.
Check out this latest clip, TV spot and Canadian poster.
MACHETE KILLS co-stars Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and hits cinemas on 11th October.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
