Plans have been in motion for a big-screen adaptation of video game DANTE’S INFERNO since Universal Pictures and Strike Entertainment picked up the rights way back in 2008. The game was eventually released in 2010, along with an animated straight-to-DVD film that followed knight Dante Aligheri, who, while attempting to rescue his beloved Beatrice, is getting caught up in a war between Heaven and Hell, and must battle host of grotesque demons. It was inspired by first part of the legendary 14th Century Poem, ‘The Divine Comedy’
I’ve never been a gamer and I’ve not seen this animated effort but this sounds like a lot of fun and certainly in keeping with the iconic tale of the nine circles of hell. Good news also if you were impressed with Sony’s recent EVIL DEAD remake as it’s been confirmed Fede Alvarez will take charge of the action/horror hybrid.
Were you a fan of the game and does this news excite you? Do let us know!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
