You may have seen some of the stars arriving at the Venice Film Festival already, or you can just scroll down for a few official shots, but we’ve also received some interesting stats on who’s up for the coveted ‘Golden Lion‘ award!
The current favourite at 7/2 is STRAY DOGS – the only Chinese language film in the competition about a family living on the brink of poverty. This is hotly followed by British production PHILOMENA at odds of 7/1, telling the tale of a journalist searching for a woman’s missing son starring Steve Coogan and Judi Dench.
Dakota Fanning stars in the American-made NIGHT MOVES about eco-activists planning to blow up a dam at 8/1 and, in with a longer shot at 20/1, is PARKLAND, Peter Landesman’s recreation of the Kennedy assassination. A spokesperson for Paddy Power said:
“With tales of poverty, habitat-destruction and one of the most famous assassinations ever, this year’s festival favourites pack a powerful punch. We predict Stray Dogs however to have just a bit more bite than the rest of the pack.”
