There just aren’t enough STAR WARS films in the world, and this is something Disney are set to rectify. Since their acquisition of George Lucas’ world-changing sci-fi leviathan, Disney have continuously surprised and pleased fans with announcements of their intended projects. We are now hearing that Disney plan to release a STAR WARS film every year commencing 2015 with EPISODE VII. From then on, ‘Episode’ entries will be released every other year, with standalone films appearing between them.
J.J. Abrams is signed on to direct STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, with rumours of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford returning. With regards the standalone films, there have been mutterings concerning solo films focused on individual characters from the franchise such as Boba Fett, Yoda and a young Han Solo, with Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg drafted in to work on them. With still no clarification on structure these non-Episode entries are very exciting and we can’t wait to go to a galaxy far, far away.
The first film is slated to hit theaters in 2015 from a script by Michael Arndt.
