Cast your mind back to the beginning of April when we brought you the news that Jim Sturgess had signed onto the suspense-filled ELIZA GRAVES. Well, two huge names have also joined the cast: Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley!
Based on the Edgar Allen Poe short story The System Of Doctor Tarr And Professor Fether, the film will see Sturgess and Kate Beckinsale as two doctors working at a mental asylum. However, their friendship starts to get complicated after he falls in love with her. Caine and Kingsley are set to play two other staff members in the period thriller.
Whilst reading up about the project, the first film ‘inspiration’ that sprung to mind was Martin Scorsese’s epic SHUTTER ISLAND (also starring Kingsley and set in an asylum). With ELIZA GRAVES to be directed by Brad Anderson (THE MACHINIST, THE CALL), there’s doubt surrounding the film, but with some huge talent on board hopefully this will surpass any negative comments. I mean, who isn’t a fan of Michael Caine?!
ELIZA GRAVES has an estimated 2014 release date.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
