After the awesome and unsettling crime-thriller, AMIMAL KINGDOM, David Michod is certainly a one to watch in many eyes. His latest effort is set in the Australian desert, in a dangerous and damaged near future as the globe hits an economic collapse. Eric (Guy Pearce) leaves everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him when a gang of desperate criminals steals his last possession – his beloved automobile. Eric sets off on a ruthless mission to track them down, forced along the way to enlist the help of Rey (Robert Pattinson), the naïve and injured junior member of the gang who was left behind in the chaos of the gang’s most recent robbery.

Check out this gritty new image from THE ROVER, set for release later in the year and co-starring Scoot McNairy, Susan Prior, Gillian Jones, Anthony Hayes, David Field and Matt Connelly. Also collaborating on the story and screenplay is ANIMAL KINGDOM’s underrated, Aussie actor, Joel Edgerton.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
