These days it’s hard to separate the glitz and glamour of celebrity lifestyles from the Hollywood movies in which they star. Not only do we fantasise about the filmic foray’s of fictional characters but increasingly we long for a taste of the off screen pizazz; the exclusive parties, champagne receptions and legions of waiters ready to do your bidding – the whole VIP shebang! Well guess what? Thanks to our friends at Odeon’s THE LOUNGE it’s possible to get both at the same time. Far from a trip to your mundane multiplex, Odeon’s THE LOUNGE brings back a much needed sense of prestige and occasion to the cinema-going experience and THN had to go along to see what all the fuss was about.
Based in London’s ODEON Whitleys centre – THE LOUNGE offers patrons the same roster of films showing on other screens around the country, but with the added edge of exclusivity. Fine food and film merge with intimate screening rooms; each of it’s five screens has a maximum of 48 seats that makes a refreshing change from being packed shoulder to shoulder with chatty, popcorn munching strangers who are clearly infringing on your armrests. Audiences will enjoy the plush and spacious surrounding of their own reclining armchair style seat AND can even get discrete waiter service of both food and drink throughout the movie at the touch of a button! As for the food itself – this is no beer and burger down your local boozer. THE LOUNGE offers a Finger, Fork and Spoon menu designed by uber Chef Rowley Leigh – all prepared onsite in a kitchen that’d make Gordon Ramsey jealous.
A trip to THE LOUNGE guarantees cinema-goers a unique a special night out and whilst the ticket pricing is a little more than average – the level of luxury and service is worth the price. Whilst the venue screens the usual box office fare it also provides unique Royal Opera House presentations and we’re excited to say is launching a series of film seasons– starting this March with screenings of 3 of Alfred Hitchcock’s best works.
Visit THE LOUNGE’s website here for more details – and treat yourself to a night of VIP cinematic luxury.
A BA in Media & an Art MA doesn’t get you much in today’s world – what it does give you however is a butt-load of time to watch a heck of a lot of movies and engage in extensive (if not pointless) cinematic chitter chatter. Movies and pop-culture have always been at the forefront of Joe’s interest who has been writing for THN since 2009. With self-aggrandised areas of expertise including 1970s New Hollywood, The Coen Brothers, Sci-Fi and Adam Sandler, Joe’s voyeuristic habits rebound between Cinematic Classics and Hollywood ephemera, a potent mix at once impressively comprehensive and shamelessly low-brow.
