Gareth Edwards, the director of the amazing MONSTERS, now has a deadline for his take on GODZILLA. Produced by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, GODZILLA is set to trample a city on 16th May 2014. The press release also noted some other key details about the production. Edwards will be directing a script by David Callaham, David S. Goyer and Max Borenstein. The film is also expected to be released in 3D, but there was no clue as to whether it would be shot in the format.
It will have been a decade since the release of the last Godzilla film by the time this reboot arrives. That film, GODZILLA: FINAL WARS, had the Big G take on monster after monster. Hopefully we’ll at least get to see Godzilla tussle with a another large monster or two, but Edwards is going for a “grounded realistic” take. It can’t be any worse than the 1998 Hollywood adaptation, can it? As long as he actually looks like Godzilla it’ll be a vast improvement.
