Tim Roth To Headline David Cronenberg’s Knifeman Series

The name of David Cronenberg is synonymous with violence, brutality and body-horror. Over the years, his films have shocked and thrilled in equal measure with classics like THE FLY, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE and SCANNERS, making each project he’s involved with immediately fascinating.

Cronenberg is currently developing a medical thriller series, inspired by Wendy Moore’s biography of 18th Century surgeon John Hunter. A man whose self-taught medical methods of the human anatomy revolutionised the industry. Add to the fact that the great Tim Roth signed on to play the lead of Dr John Tattesall, a character who draws inspiration from Hunter with the project expected to be set in present day.

The series has skipped the pilot stage, with Media Rights Capital ordering KNIFEMAN to go straight to series. Chameleon Roth saw his terrific television show LIE TO ME (playing the cocky-but-cool Cal Lightman) cruelly cancelled in 2011, but has the all-star thriller ARBITRAGE, expected in cinemas towards the end of the year. How do you guys feel about Roth and Cronenberg working together on such a fascinating project? Please let us know.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I will watch Tim Roth in anything,as he is such an intriguing actor in just about every project he works on.And to combine his talents with David Cronenberg’s makes me just salivate at the prospect. I can;t actually believe they have taken this long to work together.
