TRON: LEGACY director Joseph Kosinski’s sci-fi/action epic OBLIVION, has already cast Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Andrea Riseborough, Lindsay Clift and Olga Kurylenko. Oscar-winning actress Melissa Leo will now join that crop of talented individuals, in what is sure to be another blockbuster hit for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE actor.
The futuristic film will see Cruise play a solider who’s been court-martial and sent to a distant planet to annihilate the remains of an alien species. Once there he begins to question his mission as well as himself, when another unexpected visitor crash lands on the same planet.
Leo hit the mainstream after her performance in FROZEN RIVER garnered her an Academy Award-nomination. Since then, she has appeared in the likes of Kevin Smith’s RED STATE and critically-acclaimed drama series’ TREME and MILDRED PIERCE. Leo also won the best-supporting actress Oscar in 2011, for boxing-biopic THE FIGHTER.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
