With less than three weeks until the release of the much anticipated THE HUNGER GAMES, the US promotional tour kicked off in style, last night in Los Angeles. The cast now have a good idea, at just how much life-changing their careers may be after being mobbed by thousands of fans of Suzanne Collins critically-acclaimed trilogy of novels. The film’s stars, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson appeared at a mall in Downtown L.A., to help publicise the upcoming blockbuster by signing autographs and posing for photos with fans. The tour will continue at malls in a further seven cities.
Pre-sale tickets for the movie have even eclipsed that of the TWILIGHT franchise making Gary Ross’ latest film a sure-fire smash hit even before release. The novels themselves have sold more than 23 million copies worldwide, which given the graphic nature of the plot – a future set North America forces young teenagers to fight to the death live on television – all the more surprising.
THE HUNGER GAMES hits cinemas 23rd March. Have you bought your ticket yet?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
