Postman Pat To Finally Deliver On The Silver Screen?

It is the age of the remake, reboot, reimagining , and recycling of pretty much any and all beloved shows from yesteryear – but finally comes news about a welcome cinematic adaptation of one of our childhood heroes. Yes, POSTMAN MAN (y’ know, the fellow with the black and white cat) is to finally grace the silver screen.

The film – entitled POSTMAN PAT – YOU KNOW YOU’RE THE ONE – was announced in a press release earlier today, and is set for a 2013 release. In-keeping with the modern trend, Royal Mail’s favourite son will be recreated in 3D animation, bringing life and colour to his hometown of Greendale and famous circle of friends. The film will celebrate Pat’s 30th anniversary.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the voice cast will include Brit favourites Rupert Grint, Jim Broadbent, and The Doctor himself David Tennant. Stephen Mangan (EPISODES) will provide the voice for Pat. The film will be directed by Mike Disa (HOODWINKED TOO! HOOD VS EVIL) and written by Kim Fuller (SPICE WORLD).

Although casting specifics are vague at this point, THN is joining forces with our friends over at Hey U Guys to wage a campaign from Dame Judi Dench to take the role of Mrs Goggins. Hey, if she can reinvent James Bond’s M, she can work the magic for Greendale’s post mistress! Join our Twitter campaign here!

The film finds Pat, everyone’s favourite postman, coming face-to-face with the temptations of money, status and a shiny new suit when he enters a national TV talent show competition that threatens to tear him away from his hometown of Greendale and the friends he loves. What happens when kindness meets selfishness?  When local fame meets global notoriety?  A nice cup of tea is kicked aside by a frappacappucino?    Pat is set to find out as he falls for the age old temptation of the grass being greener…
