Yesterday, we brought you the news that Eva Mendes has joined the cast of Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER. The dark fantasy film centres on a single mother, who along with her son, discovers a magical underwater city where they must venture to and solve a mystery in order to save their family. The film already had onboard Gosling’s co-stars from DRIVE and THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES, Christina Hendricks and Ben Mendelsohn, respectively.
We can now confirm DOCTOR WHO’s very own Matt Smith will take the as-yet-unknown male lead in the film set to shoot later this year. Smith is currently working on his fourth year as the TARDIS time-travelling saviour, which will air in the UK in March. Sonic screwdrivers at the ready!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
