He may have appeared in one of the summers most disappointing blockbusters – the dire TOTAL RECALL remake – but Colin Farrell left 2012 with the terrific ensemble SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS, to remind us the year hasn’t been all bad for the Irish actor. Next up for the Dubliner will be DEAD MAN DOWN, a revenge-driven thriller that reunites the original THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO director Niels Arden Oplev, with his stunning lead Noomi Rapace.
The film sees Farrell as Victor, the right hand man to a New York crime lord who is secretly planning retribution against his boss (Terrence Howard) for the death of his wife and daughter. However, a mysterious victim and neighbour (Rapace) has a blackmail plot of her own as she seeks revenge against Victor’s gangster boss.
Here we have the impressive first ‘noir’-ish trailer for the film co-starring Dominic Cooper, Isabelle Huppert, Armand Assante, Franky G and Jennifer Mudge. DEAD MAN DOWN is slated for US cinemas on the 8th March 2013, although a UK released has yet-to-be confirmed.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
