Certainly one of the best films of the year came from director and star Ben Affleck, who once again proved with ARGO, that he’s a terrific talent both in front of and behind the camera following acclaimed and gripping thrillers, GONE BABY GONE and THE TOWN. The film documents the frankly bonkers 1980 fact-based, covert mission led by the CIA to free six American diplomats from a hazardous, revolutionary uprising in Iran. We can assure you if you’ve yet to see it, ARGO is nail-biting drama at its very best (our review HERE).
You can expect the film to receive a number of Academy Award nominations to go along with the 5 Golden Globes nods it has already been given earlier in the month. Here we have terrific featurette in which some of the actual individuals involved, talk about the tensions and the terror of not knowing if they would ever return home alive. Like the film, it’s ‘must see’!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
