The director famous for OLDBOY, THIRST and a few other fantastic films is in talks to helm STROKER.
The film, written by Wentworth Miller actor of RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE fame, tells the tale of “the story of an eccentric teen whose enigmatic and estranged uncle who returns to the family after the death of the girl’s father.” Apparently the script has a very strong focus on genre which is a big draw for the Korean director. This is the first word about which english speaking project Park Chan-wook has been hunting for since he completed last year’s THRIST.
Also involved in talks for the feature is Carey Mulligan and Jodie Foster and Fox Searchlight are looking to entice a big leading man for the role of the Uncle.
Park Chan-wook is said to be very eager to film in Canada and has previously talked about a horror film called AX, which seems to of slipped to the wayside. The director has also formed a super group with Korean favourite Bong Joon-ho (THE HOST) who is writing and directing his next film with Chan-wook producing.
I’m sure much more information will be coming out in the coming days and weeks.
Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
