Ding Dong Merrily On High! I just can’t help myself anymore, we’re just over two months away, but let’s face it. Christmas starts now. Sorry to our American cousins, but Halloween isn’t that big over her and we don’t have Thanksgiving. There is Bonfire Night I suppose. In fact, wouldn’t Guy Fawkes make an excellent addition to upcoming holiday treat RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, in which mythological chaps such as Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, Sandman, and Jack Frost join to fight evil. Assembled by Nicky Fury, the team must put their differences aside to save the world.
The new motion poster seems like the regular poster at first, but don’t let your eyes deceive you. Soon a bunch of elves come and vandalise the poster with writing and ice. I’m guessing these little elves will be this film’s equivalent of The Minions from DESPICABLE ME. This is after all another Dreamworks movie. We need those little guys for comic relief and marketing. Speaking of marketing, is the international poster trying to ride the waves of Gangnam Style’s success? Maybe.
This continues to be high on my ‘too watch’ list, but shouldn’t all Christmas films be? I wouldn’t care if I was a Jehovah’s witness, allergic to chestnuts and open fires, suffering from rhodophobia, I’d still celebrate the pants off this holiday.
RISE OF THE GUARDIANS will be released 30th November 2012. It stars the voices of Jude Law, Hugh Jackman, Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, and Isla Fisher.
