He’s one of the world’s most consistent directors, and Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest looks to be another masterpiece, with Joaquin Phoenix playing a man at odds with the world, until he meets Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s THE MASTER.
Anderson’s career has steadily been on the rise since his impressive debut HARD EIGHT, and he’s filmmaker at ease with all-star assembles (as movies such as BOOGIE NIGHTS and MAGNOLIA prove). Anderson’s a director that allows audiences to think and engage as they soak in his multi-layered stories. Always returning to actors he trusts and believes in, with the likes of Hoffman, John C. Reilly and Philip Baker Hall, called on time and again.
THN has the trailer for his fascinating feature THE MASTER, which has more than a little in common with writer L. Ron Hubbard’s controversial religious figure. The trailer follows hot on the heels of yesterdays mysterious poster. The film hits cinemas 9th November and co-stars Amy Adams, Laura Dern and Jesse Plemons.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
